Roomies is back at Film Fest Ghent

After the award-winning first season of Roomies – winner of four Ensors and showered with praise – audience favourites Bibi (Ahlaam Teghadouini) and Ama (Laura De Geest) are back. The second season of this funny and moving fiction series takes us to the next stage in Bibi and Ama's lives, and to their new, unexpected home: an old nursery building. With the structure of school gone and their wallets empty, they tumble headlong into adult life – no child's play. The result is eight new episodes that, like the main characters, have matured but remain just as funny and moving as before.

Directors and screenwriters Kato De Boeck and Flo Van Deuren, once housemates in Brussels themselves, together with production company De Wereldvrede, once again bring us a recognisable, multi-layered story based on authentic characters and scenes full of quirkiness. With new faces in the series such as Marjan De Schutter, Emax Lamoulie, Els Olaerts, Emilie De Roo, Jennifer Heylen, Alessia Sartor and Hariette Sylva, and a powerful soundtrack by among others Eefje de Visser, Ategha (Ahlaam Teghadouini) & Mickael Karkousse (Goose), Maria Iskariot and Porcelain ID, Roomies 2 once again offers a poetic view of connectedness in the vibrant and multifaceted city of Brussels – a place where you can lose yourself, find yourself and where you can always come home to each other.

The first season of Roomies premiered in 2022 at the 49th edition of Film Fest Ghent, where the duo De Boeck and Van Deuren immediately won the hearts of the audience. On Saturday 11 October, the second season will be celebrated in style within the Serial Madness festival section, with the first four episodes being screened in the presence of the cast and crew. For those who want to binge-watch the entire series, a marathon will take place at Sphinx Cinema on Sunday 12 October.

Roomies is a co-production of VRT and De Wereldvrede (Julie Zwijgt, Bevergem, Albatros, Lockdown), and was realised with the support of the Flemish Audiovisual Fund (VAF), screen.brussels, the Tax Shelter measure of the Belgian federal government via Flanders Tax Shelter and Sabam For Culture.

From Wednesday 13 October, the entire series will be available to watch on VRT MAX and from 5 November on VRT Canvas.
